A Terrible Oversight.

I have scarcely mentioned him, and I don't have a very current photo, but it occurred to me that I have never posted about my sweet dog, Bailey. He's a West Highland terrier who came from a private home in Oak Brook. He is going to be 12 years old on April 22, and for an old boy he's in pretty good health and spirits most of the time.

He suffered from some jaw cancer when he was just a puppy. Fortunately, they did not have to remove any of the jawbone... but he has no teeth on the lower right side of his mouth. He is a very sweet and loving dog. The only time he makes a growl is when he is being picked up, and that started from the time he was a tiny puppy.

I feel terrible when I spend the night at Michael's, because it means Bailey is alone. Granted, he has the run of the house, and I leave the tv on for him, and he hasn't peed or pooped at all. Still, he needs to be with me, and it would be nice to take him with me for overnights at Michael's. So... very soon, we will be introducing Bailey to Michael's giant-sized (but puppy-aged) dogs. That should be interesting. I wonder if valium is okay for situations like that? (For me, not the dogs!)

Such a sweetie!!!

Good luck with the introductions. We used to have a Cairn Terrier who did not care for big dogs at all!

He is precious! He looks very snuggly. The thing I've noticed about older dogs is they tend not to handle puppy behavior very well. I hope Bailey does well with Michael's dogs. And the Valium might not be a bad idea for you AND Bailey! (do not try this at home, consult your vet before attempting, results not typical, MSRP, your results may vary, not recommended for pregnant and nursing women)

Hi Doug,
Thanks so much on the positive comments on my blog! I immediately went to go check out yours and LOVE that the first post I see is about your dog. I'm SUCH a dog person! And to quote the movie/play that we both love so much "Sounds like good people to me!" Hopefully my blog will evolve into the jazzy looking blog you've created! Give Bailey a big smooch for me!
Chris
PS. I'm sure he was actually happy to have you over at Michael's. Dog's have their own Christmas party agenda you know.... :)

Cutie McCuterton! Love me some Bailey. If we lived closer, he could stay with me when you're over at Michael's whoring it up... err... I mean, "spending the night." :)

Whoring and snoring, baby.

Bailey is a sweetie. Named for George Bailey of "It's a Wonderful Life." But with a nod to Bailey's Irish Cream as well. Nothing to do with Beetle Bailey. Or Pearl Bailey. Or Bill Bailey.
